Trafalgar Motorcycles has been forming in my mind for a number of years and the idea finally came to fruition in January of 2002 when the doors opened for business! We received assistance along the way from the PSYBT, who made sure that the idea was a viable one and send us a business advisor every so often to make sure things are as they should be.

Since opening we have had over 90 through their test and well over 250 have completed their CBT.

The aim of Trafalgar Motorcycles is to provide a good service to customers at all stages of biking, and all over Argyll and Inverclyde. We have had customers from afar afield as Shetland, Mull, Chester and all corners of Glasgow. We believe in offering customers the best we can, for instance we offer pick up services from the ferries and trains, we have helmets and gloves for customer use and the bikes are low mileage and in good condition.

Previous customers have said that they “would not hesitate to recommend Trafalgar Motorcycles to anyone” and that they found the service provided to be ”informed, friendly and professional”, “of the highest standard” and ”first class”.

In September 2003 Trafalgar Motorcycles won the Royal Bank of Scotland and Princes Scottish Youth Business Trust award for Inverclyde and in May 2003 received recognition in the Shell LiveWire Young Entrepreneur regional finals

A huge thank you to all who attended the Open Day for Trafalgar Motorcycles held on 28th February. It started out as a wee idea when we moved into the new premises at the end of last year and ended up bigger than I could ever have imagined

We had fantastic weather and an incredible turn out of people and bikes. Displays of bikes from North Harbour Motorcycles, West Coast Harley Davidson and Haldanes ensured plenty of bikes for visitors to gaze at! Many thanks to Khalid of Barbecue Kings in Largs, who freely gave of his time and produce to ensure there was plenty to eat, drink and keep warm by. Strathclyde Police sent their Bikesafe contingent on two rather nice (and stripey) ST1300’s, and Stevie and Willie spent the day mingling with the crowds and chatting about safe riding.

Even before the 11 am start there was a steady stream of people and at 12.30 pm Provost Rebecchi officially opened the new premises, with some very kind words. I don’t think Alun was too impressed about getting his photo taken though - I didn’t mind 'cos I got to  sit on a Harley!

The aim of the Open Day was to thank all who have supported us in our two years of operation and for everyone to see the new premises by having a fun day out with bikes.
